Mountain Gorillas survive only in the Volcanos National Park in the Virunga volcanic region that sprawls northern Rwanda, southern Uganda and the northeastern part of the D.R. Congo. I was told that the DNA of a gorilla is said to be 97% identical to that of human beings. That explains the numerous behavioral and trait similarities that an observer can recognize in them. I have to say that visiting a gorilla family is one of the most exciting experiences I can think of. Hopefully these pictures give justice to the magnificence of these hearty animals.
